Allegedly won by more then the league team!

Great effort without any ruckman...

Cranny in the league team, Pumper still asleep after getting concussion last week.

23.14 to 7.11. Was 9 goals to 3 at half time when we got there. Brad Sugars took an absolute screamer of a mark late in the fourth, got up high and did the balancing trick on the guy in front - got a huge roar from the meagre crowd.

Apparently the 17s won well, but the 19s went down by 3 points.

i heard two different starting times for the reserves, the first was that it was going to be on at 2:20pm and the other was in the budget had it starting at 11:45am, what time did it start?

I was going to go and watch it after the league but not knowing whether it would be over or half way through i didnt bother.

As posted on here, mighty_tiger, the start time was 2.30pm.

At 3/4 time, the challenge was set to kick 20 goals (needing 6 in the last qtr) - I discussed with a few players that we needed to score higher than the League Team, I would have been happy with 22 - 12. But these fantastic young guys wanted to go further and kicked 23 - 14.

A fair effort, 9 goals in the last quarter.

We were wondering whether or not they knew of the result in the league match. I was of the opinion that they wouldn't be told, that it might distract them from the task at hand. Good to see that the knowledge was actually used to inspire them to bigger and better things. Good work lads, keep the pressure on the seniors. Glenelg is in the enviable position of having basically no injuries in its senior list; pressure for league positions should be fierce!

I only saw the last quarter, but did see him take one good mark and kicked the goal. Apparently he spent a fair amount of time in the ruck. (We only had him and Lachie Button, up from the U19s, to do the ruck duties as Cranston was in the League, Pumper didn't play due to concussion, and Krueger was also injured)

The stats will be out a bit later this week (or next week?) since all our stats team was at the League game, so Deborah called the whole game into a tape recorder and now has to listen to herself to type them all in to the computer! That's dedication!

Gus Lally is one player who has stepped up in the reserves this year.

In the 3 games this year he has had 29, 34 and 34 possessions, more than any game previously. (His previous best was 27 possessions in round 2 last year).

Also, his 11 marks against Central was the most he has taken for Glenelg and he was named BOG.

Good to see we have players in the Reserves who are pushing for League selection.

Gus was advised on the Saturday morning of the Centrals game that he was playing Reserves (on the very short list for League Selection).

He was also Captain for the day against the Doggies (lost the toss**)and even kicked what we lovingly refer to as a Captains Goal.
