How did Burdett not win it?

Take a look at the 'honor roll' of past reserves winners. Very few are players that have been heard of. If anything it is won by those not up to league level and who never will be, hence they get more vote getting opportunities by playing reserves each week.

I see it as the award for the player who was the unluckiest not to play more League.

Sometimes it is a good player, sometimes not. It really doesn't mean very much...

No doubt there will be the odd exception but in recent times they are players who are unknown and are more likely to go onto amateur football than sanfl league football.

Lewis was very unlucky not to play more league football out at Norwood this year. He has played a few league games in past seasons but despite dominating at reserves level was not picked but he was not the only one that seemed out of favour. He orginally came from Port. He played 16 games and kicked 29 goals.

Burdett played 14 games. Yeomans 12 games
