Had the pleasue of watching the Glenelg Primary Schools league combined 4/5s and 6/7 teams play WWT 2 weeks ago and West tonight under lights at Broad Spectrum.

2 weeks ago the 4/5's had a narrow loss and the 6/7's won by 5 or 6 goals.

At the games tonight (remembering short quarters)

Year 4/5's won (approximately) 132 points to 1 point

Year 6/7 won (approximately) 55 points to 2 points.

The West Adelaide 6/7 team have won their previous 4 games...

If anyone is slightly interested, these lads have their final matches next friday night, under lights, the 4/5 start at 7pm and the 6/7 at 8 pm. Many of the players in the teams are "sons of" ex Bays/Crows players, the runner for the 6/7 is Robbie Thompson.

The kid generally regarded as one of the very best in the 6/7 is the son of ex Bays player Dean Bailey.

Hooray! We are gonna win the flag in 15 years...

Interestingly, one of the 6/7's who plays footy in our zone (but lives in West Zone) has already caught the eye of the higher levels.

Allegedly, has already had chats to a few clubs, and NAFC has approached him and his family, and are putting him through one of the well known private colleges in adelaide from next year. NAFC and West will have to discuss a "clearance fee" which i think is a flat fee to get him from West zone to North's club.

The Bays have paid $$ to other areas for young players in the past before.

The 4/5's won by heaps

The 6/7's 9.10 (64) d Port Adelaide 0.0 (0)

One of the Dads was telling me that the coaches at training Wednesday night explained to the young fellas the importance of this game, and how it is so vital at every level that the Bays MUST beat Port Adelaide at every opportunity.

That's a truly remarkable result, especially when you consider that a Grade 6/7 team from Port Adelaide would have been full of 18 year olds...

Dead true- we once played a year 7 knockout cup game against Taperoo Primary and they had a 'kid' who had a moustache and kicked a point from Centre Half Back!

The real hooray of the story is that we beat them on the way to taking out the cup- beat Pulteney Grammar in the final.

Go OSBPS!!!

PS funniest part of the whole final was looking at the parents from both sides- watching the suit and tie brigade in shock after we had beaten em- even the officials were gobsmacked (I reakon they had already inscribed the shield).
