GUTSY TIGERS INTO GRAND FINAL

GLENELG stormed through to the under-18 Grand Final with a gutsy come-from-behind win over Sturt on Sunday.

The Tigers trailed by six goals in the second term but clawed their way back to win by one goal, 12.13 (85) to 12.7 (79).

``We gave ourselves a good challenge of coming back in the game,’’ Glenelg coach Ian Cox said.

``At one stage we were six or seven goals down in the second quarter and it was a real battle.

``The guys have got great character, big hearts, run all day and are as fit as anyone in the competition.

``So we relied on doing the little things right and had the ball bounce our way for the first time in the last quarter.’’

Darcy Armfield missed Sunday’s game with the flue but is expected to be right for the Grand Final.

Glenelg named Spencer Jackman, Andrew Bradley, Lewis Bails, Josh Giddings, Michael Bennett and Nick Cane as its best, while Josh Trembath led the way on the scoreboard with four goals.

For Sturt, Tom Harms and Alex Wilson both kicked three goals and Alex Wilson, Michael O’Malley, Tom Fotheringham, Ben Hanson, Trent Male and Jock McLeay were its best.

Sturt will now play Port Adelaide in this weekend’s preliminary final.
